Case study
A one-chair salon on Old Henderson Highway competing against chains with marketing budgets. The site had to do the work that a franchise's ad spend does.
Eleven pages: a homepage plus a dedicated page for each service line — balayage, color, perms, keratin, updos, waxing — because someone searching "balayage Tyler TX" should land on a page about balayage, not a services list. A separate service-area page covers the surrounding towns.
Both hostnames were serving the full site independently, splitting ranking signals between two addresses. We added a path-preserving 301 at the server level to consolidate them, registered missing MIME types that were causing images to 404, and cleared out stale Search Console errors.
That second card is the part another shop would not have caught, because they would not have had access to the server config. It is the argument for the whole one-shop approach.
